Frequently asked questions

Kinsey is an out-of-network provider, which means she doesn’t bill insurance directly. She can provide a superbill, a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance for possible partial reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits. Many clients are reimbursed 40 to 70%; check your plan’s out-of-network mental health coverage.

Out-of-network practice means your care is guided by what’s clinically best for you, not by insurance restrictions on session length, frequency, or diagnosis. It also protects your privacy, since your mental health information isn’t shared with an insurer.

Payment is due at the time of service. Kinsey accepts all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), HSA cards, cash, and checks. Bishop/clergy pay assistance is also welcome.

Standard individual sessions are about 50 minutes. Most clients begin weekly to build momentum and trust, then move to biweekly as things stabilize. We’ll find a rhythm that fits your needs and your life.

Kinsey asks for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule, so the time can be offered to someone else. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged the full fee.

Yes. Your privacy is protected by law (HIPAA) and professional ethics. Online sessions happen on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. There are a few narrow legal exceptions, such as imminent risk of harm, which Kinsey will review with you up front.

Both. Kinsey sees clients in person at her Hyde Park office and online via secure video for anyone located in Utah or Idaho. Many clients do a mix of both.

No. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Kinsey provides therapy, not medication. If medication might be helpful, she can coordinate with your primary care physician or a psychiatric prescriber.
